Getting Started
A: Wellvolution is a Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan health platform that connects you to app-based lifestyle programs at no extra cost. Wellvolution uses a health survey to identify your health needs and goals. Based on your responses we provide you with access to programs that meet your needs.
A: Programs are available to help you lose weight; control and reduce your risk of developing type 2 diabetes; manage anxiety and depression; quit smoking; improve sleep, reduce stress, and boost your strength; and more. Wellvolution offers programs from leading providers including Headspace, Betr Health, Headspace Care and more.
You also have access to fitness videos, recipes and more on the Everyday Choices section of your dashboard (homepage) on the Wellvolution site.
A: Follow these steps:
- Log in to Wellvolution with your Blue Shield Promise member portal account. If you do not have a Blue Shield Promise portal account, you will need to create a Wellvolution account.
- Answer the health survey questions. These questions ask about your lifestyle, health, and health goals.
- Choose a program from the list of suggested programs by selecting “Launch program website”. You will be directed to the program’s web page to register.
- Follow the registration instructions listed on the program’s web page.
A: Wellvolution is a central platform that helps connect you to a health program that meets your needs. Programs are delivered by our providers like Headspace, Betr Health, and Headspace Care. These providers use apps as their way to deliver their services and interact with you. When you choose a program on Wellvolution, you must also register with the provider of that specific program. You will receive follow up e-mails from the program or Wellvolution. You can always log back into Wellvolution and get to your program from your dashboard.
A: There are a few reasons. If your health has improved or you lost extra weight since the last time you were enrolled in the program, you may no longer meet the criteria for the program. Another reason may be that you are already enrolled in another program. If you need help with eligibility, or have questions, please call the Wellvolution customer support line: (866) 692-5059 TTY: 711, Monday – Friday, 6 a.m. – 6 p.m.
A: Some programs, like the Diabetes Prevention Program, are designed for members with certain health conditions or risks. This is determined by a member’s health status, health history, and lifestyle as noted in their responses to the health survey. If, based on your health survey responses, you got a suggestion for a different program, we hope you’ll give it a try! If you need help with eligibility, switching programs, or have questions, please call the Wellvolution customer support line: (866) 692-5059 TTY: 711, Monday – Friday, 6 a.m. – 6 p.m.
A: Yes. You can access Wellvolution and our programs using an internet browser on a computer or tablet. You must have a valid email address to create an account and verify your eligibility using your Blue Shield Promise member ID.
A: Yes. If you already have a Blue Shield Promise portal account, you can use your credentials to log in to Wellvolution without having to create a new account on Wellvolution.
A: You do not need to have a Blue Shield Promise portal account. You can create a Wellvolution account on the Wellvolution site. You will need a valid email address and your member ID number.
A: Doctors designed Wellvolution programs to support those with chronic conditions through lifestyle education and guidance. If you worry that your health may prevent you from following the diet and exercise recommendations, please talk to your healthcare provider. If you start a program and find that the program you chose is not right for you, please go to the “Settings” menu in the top navigation area and select a new option.
A: If you are pregnant, check with your healthcare provider before starting any program. Some programs are not recommended for women who are pregnant and will not be offered to you.
A: Program providers may reach out to you once you enroll in their program. You may also receive reminder e-mails if you chose a program but have not started it. Sometimes providers advertise to the public in general and you may be part of who they reach out to.
If you are asked to sign up at Blueshieldca.com/Medi-Cal or Wellvolution.com/Medi-Cal, the message is legitimate. Please remember that Wellvolution will never ask you for your credit card information or ask to pay any fees or co-pays. Stay safe.
